Awards Session

Applications from IAPM members are invited for the Dr VR Khanolkar Prize, Smt. Kunti Devi Mehrotra Award, Prof KC Basu Mallick Award, and Best Paper Award. The applications, complete in all respects should reach the Honorary Secretary by the 31st August 2017.

1. The Dr VR Khanolkar Prize is one of the most prestigious awards of IAPM for published research work.

    • The contest for this prize is open to all members fulfilling the following criteria:
       1. Age of the applicant should be below 45 years of age on 31st July for that particular year (age proof to be  provided),
      2. The research work submitted should have been carried out in India,
      3. The above research work should have been published as the first author in the preceding two years

    • The principal author shall submit:
       1. Covering letter indicating the IAPM Membership number,
       2. Certificate from all authors certifying that this research work has been carried out in India and this work has not received any other award,
       3. Certificate from the co-authors (if any), attesting and supporting the candidature of the principal author,
       4. In case the applicant is a postgraduate or senior resident, there should be letter from Head of the Department/Dean stating that the applicant is eligible for the award, and
       5. His / Her brief biodata. The Covering letter, Certificates from all authors / co-authors, Letter from head of Department (if necessary), along with age proof must be sent as            a hard copy and a soft copy to the Secretary IAPM.
    • PDF format of the published paper is to be submitted to the Secretary IAPM as a soft copy.
    • The applications, complete in all respects should reach the Honorary Secretary by the 31st August 2017.

2. The Smt Kunti Devi Mehrotra Award is another prestigious award given annually for published research work.

    • The contest for this prize is open to all members fulfilling the following criteria:
       1. Age of the applicant should be below 50 years of age on 31st July for that particular year (age proof to be provided),
       2. The research work submitted should have been carried out in India,
       3. The above research work should have been published as the first author in the preceding two years

    • The Principal author shall submit:
       1. Covering letter indicating the IAPM Membership number,
       2. Certificate from all authors certifying that this research work has been carried out in India and this work has not received any other award,
       3. Certificate from the co-authors (if any), attesting and supporting the candidature of the principal author,
      4. In case the applicant is a postgraduate or senior resident, there should be letter from Head of the      Department/Dean stating that the applicant is eligible for the award,           and
      5. His / Her brief biodata. The Covering letter, Certificates from all authors / co-authors, Letter from head of   Department (if necessary), along with age proof must be sent as           a hard copy and a soft copy to the Secretary IAPM.
    • PDF format of the published paper is to be submitted to the Secretary IAPM as a soft copy.
    • The applications, complete in all respects should reach the Honorary Secretary by the 31st August 2017.

3. Dr KC Basu Mallick Award is given to the best paper during the plenary session of the APCON.

    • The award for this prize is open to all members fulfilling the following criteria:
       1. There is no age restriction,
       2. The research work submitted should have been carried out in India,
    • The principal author shall submit:
       1. Covering letter indicating the IAPM Membership number,
       2. Certificate from all authors certifying that this research work has been carried out in India and this work has not received any other award,
       3. Certificate from the co-authors (if any), attesting and supporting the candidature of the principal author,
       4. In case the applicant is a postgraduate or senior resident, there should be letter from Head of the Department/Dean stating that the applicant is eligible for the award, and
       5. His / Her brief biodata. The Covering letter, Certificates from all authors / co-authors, Letter from head of Department (if necessary), along with age proof must be sent as            a hard copy and a soft copy to the Secretary IAPM.
   • All candidates should submit a full length text of the research work to be presented in the form of a manuscript for publication (refer to instructions to authors of Indian       Journal of Pathology and Microbiology) – This should be a soft copy. The format is pdf with images embedded within the manuscript at the end of the write-up.
   • The applications, complete in all respects should reach the Honorary Secretary by the 31st August 2017.
   • The paper will be initially scrutinized by a panel of referees selected by the President/Secretary, IAPM for its presentation at the plenary session.
   • A maximum of five papers will be finally selected for presentation. If the paper is not selected,it will be submitted for the Oral free paper session by the Secretary with due       notification
   • The time allotted for presentation is generally 10 minutes only (including the questions and answers).

4. The Best Paper Award is given to the best paper presented during the plenary session of the Annual Conference of IAPM

   • The award for this prize is open to all members fulfilling the following criteria:
      1. Age below 35 years on 31st December of that year (age proof to be provided),
      2. The research work submitted should have been carried out in India,
   • The principal author shall submit:
      1. Covering letter indicating the IAPM Membership number,
      2. Certificate from all authors certifying that this research work has been carried out in India and this work has not     received any other award,
      3. Certificate from the co-authors (if any), attesting and supporting the candidature of the principal author,
      4. IIn case the applicant is a postgraduate or senior resident, there should be letter from Head of the Department/Dean stating that the applicant is eligible for the award, and
      5. His / Her brief biodata. The Covering letter, Certificates from all authors / co-authors, Letter from head of Department (if necessary), along with age proof must be sent as            a hard copy and a soft copy to the Secretary IAPM.

Oral Presentation Guidelines


The aim of this session is to encourage postgraduates and young faculty to present research papers and is meant for the non-award papers only.

• The presenting author should be member of IAPM. If the author is a non-member and wishes to present the paper, then he/she should apply for IAPM membership in advance and at the earliest. Only registered delegates can send the abstracts. Each member can present only one paper (either paper or poster and not both)

• All the abstracts are to be uploaded using online registration at the Conference web-site. It is mandatory that the delegate be an IAPM member during the process of uploading. There is no need to send hard copies by post or by CDs. The cut-off date will be 30th September 2017. No abstracts will be taken after this deadline.

• The First Page of the abstract should contain the following details: Name of the Presenting Author (underlined) and co-authors (if any), IAPM Number of the presenting author, Address for correspondence, Delegate registration number (if already available), Mobile number, Email, and the appropriate subspecialty.

• The delegates may choose the following sub-specialty: Autopsy Pathology, Bones/Joints/Soft Tissue Pathology, Cytopathology, Dermatopathology, Endocrine Pathology, Gastrointestinal Pathology, Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Pathology, Laboratory Medicine (includes Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Immunology and Hematology), Lymphoreticular Pathology, Microbiology, Neuropathology, Pediatric Pathology, Thoracic Pathology, Uro-genital & Breast Pathology, AND Others.

• The Second Page of the abstract should include: the Title, Presenting Author (underlined) and coauthors (if any) and Institutional Affiliations. The abstract is restricted to a maximum of 250 words, using Times New Roman size 12 font. It should include: Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions, and Key words.Please check for grammar and spelling mistakes.

• The number of cases/patients for a free paper should be more than ten; otherwise it will be relegated to the poster category, unless the cases are unusual or rare.

• All abstracts are peer reviewed, and the IAPM reserves the right to assign it as oral or poster presentation. The abstract therefore should not be casually written and due care should be taken to ensure its contents.

• There will be total of seven minutes for presentation and two minutes for discussion. All participants should finish in the time allotted.

• No correspondence regarding a change in the presentation shall be entertained and all members are requested not to contact the Conference Secretariat or the Honorary Secretary in the matter.

• On the basis of the consensus received from the screening committee members and Secretary IAPM, Secretary Organizing Committee shall prepare the final list of papers to be presented. Accepted abstracts will be listed on the conference website by 31st October 2017. Abstracts may be withdrawn by a written communication via email to the Organizing Secretary by 15th October 2017.

Guidelines for Posters
